Can be seasonal or year round
Common symptoms include:
- Sneezing
- Watery eyes
- Red / puffy eyes
- Runny nose
- Stuffy nose
- Sinus pain / pressure
- Diarrhea
Can be associated with asthma and eczema
Allergens can include pets, roaches, dust mites, pollen, certain types of food (i.e., shellfish, peanuts)
Antihistamines such as fexofenadine, loratadine are commonly used. Nasal antihistamines such as Azelastine may also be used
Steroid nasal sprays such as fluticasone can be used as well
Allergy avoidance may be helpful but not always possible
Nasal irrigation / nasal saline sprays can also be helpful
Other alternative treatments can include bromelain, NAC, quercetin.
